Chini Ka Rauza
Agra is well famous for the Taj Mahal, but it is also the home to many more historical monuments and sites from the Mughal era. Apart from the visit to the Taj Mahal Agra sightseeing includes visit to the Agra Fort, Fatehpur Sikri, Sheesh Mahal, Mehtab Bagh, Jama Mazid, Shah Burj , Tomb of Imtad -ud Daulah, Chini-ka-Rauza.
Chini–ka- Rauza is the tomb of Allama Afzal Khan Mullah. He was not only the Prime minister of Emperor Shah Jahan, but also a renowned scholar and poet of that era. The tomb was built in the year 1635 and lies on the eastern bank of the river Yamuna. The monument is famous for the amazing Persian architecture. One can view the fine eye catching glazed tile work also known as kashi or chini in the ancient times, done inside the monument. Its importance increases as it is the only monument displaying pure Persian architecture in the whole of India. Beautiful paintings and Islamic calligraphy are visible on the ceilings of the domes. The top of the chambers are inscribed by Quran verses.
Although the monument is not in the best of its conditions, yet visit Chini –ka-Rauza for its amazing craftsmanship and to get an insight of the pure Persian architecture. While planning a tour of Agra one must visit Chini –ka- Rauza. The monument lies just a kilometre away from Tomb of Imtad -ud Daulah in the North. One can visit his monument along with the tom of Imtad -ud Daulah, Mehtab Bagh and Ram Bagh. It can be easily accessed through public transport. The monument is open for visitors throughout the year. It is open for visitors seven days a week from 6:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M.
